Court FAQs
Will my court crack?
Yes! All concrete will crack.. eventually. There are 2 main ways to minimize this risk. The first option is to saw cut expansion joints in your concrete. This will allow the concrete to expand and contract with Utah's freeze/dry cycle and minimize cracks. However, any paint over these joints will form micro-cracks over time. The second option is is a post-tensioned concrete slab which will be less prone to cracking (though not invincible) but is usually at least 2x more expensive. The right choice of slab will always come down to your personal priorities and budget!
How long does it take to build a court?
For full build courts we take between 2-4 days to prep and pour your concrete. After concrete is poured, we have to wait 30 days for the concrete to cure before surfacing it. For existing slabs or when your court finishes curing, it will take another 2-4 days to prep and surface your court. After we finish, it is ready to be played on within 24 hours!
Can you repair my existing court?
Yes! we can repair cracks, adhesion issues, and other defects in your court. Depending on the severity of your repairs, there may be additional costs to ensure your court lasts a long time!
How much space do I need for a pickleball court?
A standard court is usually about 30' wide by 60' long to allow plenty of service and sideline space. As the dimensions shrink, you will lose some of the buffer space outside of your playing lines until you reach the lines which are 20' wide by 44' long. For courts with basketball lines, we recommend being at least 25' wide in order to have a full size regulation 3-point line. If your court is more narrow than this, we may have to do non-regulation lines.
How much does a court cost?
A standard full build court will cost between $35k - $40k though this number can vary greatly depending on things like size, accessories, existing terrain, and complexity of your project. We'll always give you an itemized quote so everything is transparent and clear on how much you are paying for each part of the process!
